Phase 1 Clinical Trial

The Phase 1 clinical trial is a multicenter open label safety and tolerability clinical trial. The purpose of the Phase 1 trial is to determine if NT-501 is safe for use in Macular Telangiectasia type 2 patients, and if patients experience adverse side effects to the device.

The Phase 1 clinical trial enrolled seven participants at two clinical sites in the United States. Participants’ visual function is measured with biannual visual acuity and microperimetry tests. Pictures of their retinas are taken using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and other imaging procedures.

All seven participants have completed four years in the study with no significant adverse events noted. Participants will continue to be followed until at least September 2016.
