Dr. Allikmets is leading the team of genetics researchers assembled by the Lowy Medical Research Institute to identify MacTel’s causative gene or genetic risk factors. He has been with the MacTel Project since the genetics program began, and is an expert in genetic studies of Mendelian and complex eye diseases. Dr. Allikmets’ laboratory is at Columbia University.
